Vast plains with wandering elephants, towers of giraffes between lone acacias and lion prides lazing under azure skies - Tanzania is synonymous with the Serengeti, home to the Migration and Africa's great mammals. This is the quintessential landscape most picture when dreaming of an African safari and yet it is so much more: ancient volcanic calderas, flamingo-filled lakes, snow-capped mountain peaks and a nation of warm and welcoming people waiting to introduce you to their remarkable land.
Tanzania is one of my favourite countries to send wildlife lovers - it offers an array of beautiful ecosystems, each packed with flora and fauna, from tree-climbing lions, huge herds of elephants in Tarangire and wild dogs in Ruaha.

Epic wildlife experiences
While the Serengeti may be Tanzania's most well-known park, the country is filled with vast tracts of conserved land just waiting to be explored. Take in the views from the edge of the Ngorongoro Crater and travel down to the floor for a lunch banquet in the middle of nowhere against the backdrop of grazing zebras and wildebeests. There are also many intrepid options if you are looking to get off the beaten track, from the vast Selous and Ruaha National Parks, to chimpanzee trekking in the forests of the Mahale Mountains.
With easy access between the two destinations, why not combine a trip to Tanzania with Kenya, add gorilla trekking in Uganda or Rwanda, or a beach experience in Zanzibar. Our Travel Researchers will design a custom itinerary that perfectly suits your personal interests and travel style.
